Laser Skin Rejuvenation

laser skin rejuvenationThe use of lasers in non-surgical treatments has grown dramatically in recent years owing to the impressive results that they can produce. Laser skin rejuvenation effectively aims to ‘turn back the clock’ and give you a more youthful appearance.

Laser skin rejuvenation can treat many signs of ageing and the most common ones are as follows:

  • Fine lines.
  • Fine wrinkles.
  • Dark circles around the eyes.
  • Dull, lifeless skin.
  • Slight sagging of the skin.
  • Freckles and pigmentation.

Laser skin rejuvenation uses a few different types of lasers and each particular clinic will have their preferred choice. The most common lasers used are as follows:
  • Ablative laser rejuvenation: This type of laser removes the outer layer of skin and then gently heats up the inner dermis skin layer. This stimulates the production of collagen which is required for healthy skin.
  • Non Ablative laser rejuvenation: This is less invasive than ablative laser treatment and consequently has very little recovery time. Non ablative laser rejuvenation heats up the inner layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production without actually removing any skin.
  • Fractional laser rejuvenation: This is a deep skin rejuvenation technique and has excellent anti-ageing results.
  • IPL – Intense pulsed light: This is not strictly a laser as it uses light energy to improve the appearance and texture of the skin.

How Much Does Laser Skin Rejuvenation Cost?

The cost of laser skin rejuvenation will vary widely between clinics so it is definitely worth contacting a few of them to compare. It is important however that you are comparing like with like as different clinics may be using more advanced laser technology which is likely to increase the price.

The main factors that affect the price of laser skin rejuvenation are as follows:

  • Type of laser: A clinic using the very latest development in skin rejuvenation lasers are likely to charge a higher price than those using older equipment.
  • Your practitioner: You will pay more to be seen by doctor than a non-medically trained beautician. In addition to this a practitioner with a good reputation is likely to command a higher price.
  • What needs treating: You will obviously pay more if your whole face is being treated compared with a smaller area such as under your eyes. In addition to this, if your treatment requires a deeper application of the laser then this is likely to be more expensive. For example treating deep frown lines will require the laser to be applied to deeper layers of the skin and therefore cost more.
  • Location: Larger cities and affluent districts are likely to charge more for the treatment as the cost of renting the premises will be higher.
  • The clinic: Clinics with a good reputation are likely to charge the most for treatment.

Typical Laser Skin Rejuvenation Prices:

The starting price is likely to be around £1000 but this could be as much as £3000 depending on what exactly needs treating and how many repeat sessions you are likely to need. The only way to get an accurate price is to go for a consultation so you skin can be assessed.

Laser Skin Rejuvenation Side Effects:

Like with all procedures there are always potential side effects. Laser skin rejuvenation is however considered to be extremely safe providing your clinician is experienced and knowledgeable. The following lists the possible side effects which could occur:

  • Skin changing colour: You could get a lightening or darkening of the area being treated.
  • Scars forming: This is rare.
  • Redness and swelling: This normally disappears with 24 hours.
