IPL Thread Vein Removal
Thread veins are very common affecting around 30% of the population and can affect both men and women. The exact cause of thread veins (also called spider veins) is not fully understood but they can be hereditary and associated with changing hormones and exposure to extreme weather.
IPL thread vein removal works by directing an intense beam of light directly at the thread veins which causes the blood inside them to coagulate (dry and then harden). These dried out blood vessels are then absorbed naturally by the body so they will no longer be visible. IPL thread vein removal is especially effective at specifically only damaging the actual thread veins rather than the surrounding tissues, meaning little damage is caused to the surrounding skin. This is an advantage over laser thread vein removal and for this reason it can be used to treat larger thread veins than the laser can.
Does Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Thread Vein Removal Hurt?
People normally experience a hot, pin prick type feeling as the light is applied but this is normally easily tolerated.
How Many IPL Treatments Will I Need?
It is normally recommended to have at least 4 treatments per affected area. You will need to wait around 3 weeks between treatments.
What is The Recovery Time Needed After IPL Thread Vein Removal?
There is no recovery time following the treatment and you will be able to return to work and normal activities immediately after you have had it done. There may be some redness and discomfort for around 24 hours but this is not always the case.
IPL Thread Vein Removal Cost:
The cost will depend on the size of the area being treated.
