IPL Hair Removal Side Effects
IPL hair removal is an extremely safe and effective treatment that can reduce hair in a given area by up to 70%. Whilst the procedure is extremely safe there are a few potential side effects that you need to be aware of:
It is normal to have slight redness and swelling after the treatment. This typically only lasts a few hours but can last longer for some people.
Some people can experience a slight sun burnt type sensation for a few days following treatment.
Occasionally blisters can occur.
Hyper pigmentation: This can lead to darkening of the area being treated.
Hypo pigmentation: This can lead to white patches appearing on the treated area.
Bruising: This affects around 10% of people having Intense pulse light treatment.
Like with just about every other non-surgical cosmetic treatment there are a few side effects that can occur. In reality though, intense pulsed light (IPL) side effects are rare and generally only short lasting. Furthermore, during your consultation prior to the treatment your practitioner will be able to tell you how likely you are to experience any side effects based on your skin type etc. Generally speaking darker skin types are at a higher risk of developing side effects.
